Biomass Asset Mapping Tool
The Mississippi Biomass and Renewable Energy Council defines biomass as any non-fossil, energy containing a form of organic carbon and includes all land and water-based vegetation such as trees, aquatic and marine plants, crops, organic components of municipal solid waste, forestry and agricultural residues, animal wastes, and industrial wastes derived from any combination of those substances.

Mississippi has many naturally occurring substances and substances that can be easily farmed that are natural biomass sources. MDA has recently contracted with a consulting group to provide a detailed study of these potential sources and how to best utilize them. This information is provided in report format and accompanied by geographic datasets. This data and geographic information are available on the MDA Biomass website to a target audience of potential biomass and investors and to the general public.
